ANY eligible Cottonwood Student can run to be a Class Officer! We are looking for leaders, innovative thinkers and students who care about Cottonwood! A class officer cannot hold an executive leadership position in another organization at Cottonwood.

Academics

While there are academic requirements to be a class officer, if you feel like your third quarter grades are not reflective of your capabilities, please see Mrs. Hsiao. The requirement is a 3.0 GPA for Quarter 3. There are ways to petition for additional considerations regarding the GPA Requirement. If you would like to run but have a GPA lower than 3.0 for Quarter 3, see Mrs. Hsiao in room 602.

Dedication

With a mountain of support, Class Officer’s are the appointed leaders for each grade level at Cottonwood. The activities, events, assemblies, and initiatives take a significant amount of time to plan. A class officer is not eligible to hold an executive leadership position in another organization at Cottonwood. You will join the Student Government class period next year to plan during the school day. Nonetheless, being elected to Student Government is a commitment that you will dedicate time to perform your roles to the best of your ability.

Summer Planning

In order to be prepared for events at the beginning of the school year, we will need to complete important planning during the Summer Break. Some of this planning will occur at the Utah State University Leadership Camp from June 5-7. On average, we spend anywhere from 10-15 days throughout the summer working on Student Government tasks. The other days are somewhat flexible but the week before school starts is an important time for Class Officers. Mark your calendars!
