Communications Q&A

What are two Initiatives you will work on as an SBO next year if you are elected?

Dylan Henry

I would push for bigger student sections at our sports activities and more activities to participate in while at school to get more people involved.

Gavin Lauber

If I am elected I really plan on increasing our communication to the student body. I really want huge turnouts at all of our games and events, so I plan on making my messages bold and interesting, along with working with the ASC’s to get the most attendance possible. I also want to make sure everyone is very informed about anything and everything, there is a service offered on Instagram to create a broadcast channel where people who want it, can get extra, more personal information, I plan on utilizing this, along with the announcements and other social media, so that every student knows what's going on.

JJ Nguyen

I would provide more opportunities that allow you to get help with studying and homework. And I would also give more opportunities to students who have opinions on certain topics--such as themes--and want to share their ideas to SBOs!!

What does it mean to you to be a Colt?

Dylan Henry

To me being a colt is showing colt spirit, spreading positivity, and participating in school activities.

Gavin Lauber

For me, to be a colt is to be a part of something bigger than myself, a piece in one giant community puzzle. The past 3 years at this school have been lots of fun, and I have always felt included. I want to spread my meaning of being a colt to all the students at Cottonwood, from the incoming freshmen, to the seniors. Under my influence as SBO communications, along with support from all the other SBO's, I will create an open and welcoming environment where everyone will find out what it really means to be a colt.

JJ Nguyen

To me, being a Colt means pushing yourself to do as much as you can and never giving up!!! It's so important to keep going! Being a Colt also means living your life in the way you want, enjoy it while it lasts :). 💯💯

What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?

Dylan Henry

Be more inclusive and allow everyone to participate in whatever activity we would actively be giving to the people.

Gavin Lauber

I would make sure to create activities that cater to all students, their interests and their cultures. I think a good idea would be to survey the student body and get their opinions and interests on specific activities and things we could implement at the school. I hope to make my communication two-sided, not just me conveying information to students, but you conveying things back.

JJ Nguyen

I would love to have more activities done during regular classes that involve everyone, it would be great to know the people you sit next to, and find a new friend! 😁

What advice do you have to stay motivated with academics throughout the year?

Dylan Henry

Don’t overthink it, just do your best to stay consistent and you will succeed.

Gavin Lauber

Keep pushing forward, no matter how drowned you feel, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, if you keep working hard, and pushing through the assignments, you can get it done.

JJ Nguyen

It's gonna be hard, but imagine how your education will impact your future!!! Keep pushing, study at a library or coffee shop if you need to, usually that gets me in the habit of productive studying--especially with a friend!! Stay studious y’all 💯.
