Historian Q&A
What are two Initiatives you will work on as an SBO next year if you are elected?
Addison Condie
I would first want to increase attendance and participation for ALL events at Cottonwood. We may get a large student section at some sports games but it's not balanced, same thing for the plays, improv nights, etc.
I would also want to improve communication between the students, student gov and other organizations. I want to incorporate other organizations into assemblies, dances and other events. I want to receive feedback from the students to see how we can improve our events and make everyone feel more involved and included!
Chelsey Weaver
I want to help get games and the theatre shows more known about. I also want to help make the assemblies something that more people want to participate in.

Two initiatives that I would work on as an SBO next year would be to make sure event schedules don't cross over with other events and I would also make sure that a variety of different people and groups are included in the photos so they get the recognition they deserve.
What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
Addison Condie
Being a Colt means you're proud of yourself and where you come from. Cottonwood is one of the most diverse schools and there are so many different languages, cultures, and religions at Cottonwood that form our various awesome organizations.
Chelsey Weaver
Someone who enjoys being at Cottonwood, whether it’s through the classes or by participating in sports and clubs. Being a colt means being supportive of Cottonwood.
G.O. Atencio
To be a Colt is to be more than just a student at Cottonwood High School. Being a colt is being in a community with your peers where you support each other and help each other grow into something much greater.
What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
Addison Condie
I would communicate with the other groups we have/want to work with to receive different perspectives and ideas we may not have come up with without their input. So many different people go to Cottonwood and there are so many different views on events that would benefit us all!
Chelsey Weaver
Making sure that activities feel open, and that there is enough "advertisement" of events/activities so that people know they are happening.
G.O. Atencio
Including everyone into the activites and getting lots of student participation, buy most importantly, make it exciting and fun for all the students.
What advice do you have to stay motivated with academics throughout the year?
Addison Condie
My biggest piece of advice is to prevent overwhelming yourself too much. Don't save everything for one day whether that's the end of term or only doing homework the night before it's due. Make a plan to space it out, have designated days for the different assignments you need to work on and do it the way it works for YOU! There are so many different opinions in high school and you have to block them out as much as you can and focus on you're priorities.
Chelsey Weaver
Everyone has their ups and downs, but take a second to breathe. Then focus on the future and start working towards it.
G.O. Atencio
I would use the same method I have to wake myself up everyday, finish it now so I have more freetime to do what I want later. It gets me soaring through all my assignments and I end up having tons of free time in the end.
